Walking and Climbing.

Sunday afternoon took me out with my camera.
Here it shows you how the moods of the weather changed from being still to vivacious and wild.

Blackstone Edge is a bleak rocky outcrop overlooking the Lancashire towns of Rochdale and Littleborough to the north east of the Manchester conurbation.
The A58 passes close by, en route from Halifax and Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire's Bronte Country.

Water and Sky

I wondered as a lonely cloud

Moods of weather

Sun trying to smile
through the clouds
that tumbled down
silently caressing the earth
like the Divine Lover
that gently strokes
the spine of the horizon
sitting on a rock
pondering and
gazing into the eyes of nature
a glimpse of the sun
and a sudden outburst of laughter
filled the heavens
the mood changed
and dropped a shroud
and bequethed us with a frown
Are we not like the moods of the weather?
Quotes:
It is one of the secrets of Nature in its mood of mockery that fine weather lays heavier weight on the mind and hearts of the depressed and the inwardly tormented than does a really bad day with dark rain sniveling continuously and sympathetically from a dirty sky. ~Muriel Spark, Territorial Rights, 1979
Iron rusts from disuse, stagnant water loses its purity and in cold weather becomes frozen; even so does inaction sap the vigors of the mind.
George H. Allen (1922 - 1990)
Life! we've been long together, Through pleasant and through cloudy weather; 'Tis hard to part when friends are dear, Perhaps 'twill cost a sigh, a tear; Then steal away, give little warning; Choose thine own time; Say not 'Good-night'; but in some brighter clime Bid me 'Good-morning'.

Aikin Barbauld (1743 - 1825)
My favourite
Waves of a serene life pass over us from time to time, like flakes of sunlight over the fields in cloudy weather.
Henry David Thoreau

Lovely photos. Especially enjoyed b/c I've never been to England...yet.
Your poem rings vivid and true. Agree that we are like the weather.
Ah, I love that Thoreau quote, too.

Hmmm ... that is what poetry is supposed to be (and do), sitting here the words evoke the feeling of divine fingers warmly stroking my spine ... soothing away the weariness of the cold though bright day!
