Street Children of Calcutta

The children of Calcutta, 50,000 of them on the street
Wandering hopelessly hungry, half naked in bare feet
Born of poor families, runaway from home
To escape emotional abuse ... to be free to be alone
They have been beaten and tortured, abused and bruised
Forced to live a life of uncertainty, misused and confused
Like sheep in a field of waste and grime
Tarnished and stained, many live a life of crime
Hoping for a vital spark, a new breath of life
Instead of washing souls in the gutters of strife
What is the purpose of our Being when we allow this to take place
Is this what we present ourselves as the loving human race
Allow the Love of God in you to expand and arise
Listen to the weepin of their hearts, remove the tears from their eyes.
Be a Sentient Being.

this is so sad... and it doesn't happen only in calcutta, it happens all over the world...

it is important to be reminded how lucky we are... and how much of the world struggles to live another day...

thank you for sharing

I have just come from two blogs which were talking about gratitude.
Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something!

So much of life can be
people caught up in a way to be
from the beggars in the street
to the likes of you and me.

Funny though, life in the slums in India or Brasil, still hasn't moved on from the days of Oliver Twist. Children taught to be beggars, taught to be thiefs...

Do you ever wonder what crime and poverty would really be like in the uk and Europe if we didn't have a benefits system, to at least meet some of the people's basic needs.

I wish all children were well cared for and loved.

Thanks for the post!

Positive attitude is one force in life that cannot be stopped. living and enjoying in the moment i think is key to having happy, enjoying life. I was searching on the subject and came across "As we express or gratitude, we must never forget that the highest apperciation is not to utter words, but to live by them"

thanks for the post (:

I can never hurt enough nor starve enough to help that little child but I can pass on a helping hand to those nearest to me for charity does after all start at home.
A sad and thought provoking pic Trinitystar.
